Ministry of Education launches a nationwide public movement involving educational stakeholders and the community to improve the infrastructure of schools
he Ministry of Education officially launches a national public movement program to improve the infrastructure of schools, under the motto "Education for the next generation" at the new Commercial Bank of Ethiopia Headquarters on June 2, 2023. The launch will be attended by senior government officials, educational stakeholders, investors, celebrities, artists, development organization leaders and other stakeholders.
The purpose of the national movement is to develop a system of operations to improve the infrastructure of schools with the participation of the community at all levels and to enable the community to support the learning and teaching process.
The Minister of Education, Professor Birhanu Nega states that the work of improving the infrastructure of schools is not a responsibility left to the government alone and that the society at all levels and various bodies should increase their participation. He further invites everyone to make contributions, he said," The invitation is for everyone to make contributions with what they have: Money, skills or contributions in kind."
It is facilitated in a way where leaders at all levels, the local community, former students; famous individuals, the diaspora community, investors, private and public institutions and so on can leave their mark by contributing to meet the infrastructure development of schools in their birth places, in their area of residency and workplace.
The initiative which was facilitated by the Ministry of Education has launched a portal through which anyone can access and pledge their support for the school.
The campaign aims to enable Ethiopians and foreign nationals of Ethiopian origin in the country and abroad to contribute to the fulfillment of adequate school infrastructure in their place of birth, where they studied prior or where they work.
